Showing list of registered attendees on public event page [2475]

    Current behavior:
List of event registrants is only available to account administrators

    Desired behavior:
Since some people are motivated to register if they know that their friends are already registered, we need the ability to show the list of people who already registered to other users considering registering.

    Notes:
    1) Privacy is an important consideration. Each registrant should be made aware that his registration may be disclosed and should be able to opt-out of this.

List of members registered for events available to members

I've recently received a number of requests from members to be able to view the list of members who have signed up for an event.  The need was specifically for car pooling.

Do you have any plans to allow members to view member attendee lists?

We do have it in our plans for later in the year. This has some privacy implications so we have to construct this carefully.

Re: List of members registered for events available to members

    Hi,

I'd like to second this request. Our intended use is a bit different though. Essentially, we'd like to use the Event feature to create a Volunteer sign-up system. (Volunteer Activities and Events would be threaded together.) Members could then register to indicate intent to volunteer for a particular event, using the list of already registered members to guide them in selecting an appropriate volunteer date.

We may resort to using the blog to facilitate the volunteer sign-up process..although its unstructured nature is not ideal.

Re: List of members registered for events available to members

I would also like this feature to be available. It would be acceptable to only show the list to other logged in members as a way of protecting privacy. Quite often people make choices about events based on who else will be attending which along with things like car pooling make it quite a desirable feature.

This is my first post and I would like to say what a fantastic tool Wild Apricot promises to be for our club (particularly the treasurer and committee members) Thank you

I think this could be good, but at the same time, members do want privacy and an opt out option would have to be available

I'm new to WA, but i also think this would be a good feature.

We find we get a higher attendance on events when people know who is attending (friends of friends)

This same request was asked by our Conference Committee.   They would like it to be for members-only -- and they'd love to be able to have members pictures be displayed if possible.  Our group is very communicative during the year but there's nothing like the face-to-face conference to get everyone very comfortable.  We vote for this one too!

Re: Showing list of registered attendees on public event page

This is something that we are interested in as well.  We like the implimentation that Evite has, where there is a summary of yes/no/maybe responses, and then a running log of who's responded, including a comment.  We find that the comments particularly can help build interest in the event, and form an important part of the community feel of the association.

Since our association is mostly built around events, we would find some sort of listing of attendees extremely helpful.  We agree with the earlier comments that an opt out would be necessary, either at the time of regestration, or as part of the member record, or both.

I also want to endorse this request.

Having this for my group administrators will help them to ensure they are getting maximum return on their investment...and...as a result...lead to more renewals.

    Thank you.

Re: Showing list of registered attendees on public event page

I support the request for the list of registrants to be available to other members in some format. The privacy issue does create a constraint, however, I checked with my members and the feedback I received is they would be fine if their name or profile picture is visible (which is already visible to other members under the member directory), but they would like their contact information to remain private. In most cases, another member is be more likely to attend if they see that a familiar member is already registered.

Another alternative is to show a tally of registrants for events that have no limitation on the number of attendees so that other members can see that there are other people registered... eg... "there are 7 attendees for this event".  When the members can see that there are other people registered it's more inviting to attend as well.

Re: Showing list of registered attendees on public event page

This has come up several times in our club.

    Our three concerns are:

    1.  We'd like to be able to use the list on the event page, the blog and in email blasts.
    2. Opt in/out is very important.
    3. A choice of fields shown would be good. Example: Use of a forum handle (which we use as a field on our event registration form) instead of a real name.
    Thanks!

Re: Showing list of registered attendees on public event page

It would not be so much of a security issue if it were an on/off switch for each event, so say display or don't display the attendees.

We desperately need this functionality so that those considering attending can see who else is going, which will sway their decision to attend or not.

I hope this goes higher on the enhancement list.

Event registrations visible to all please? + Event detail visible only to members

One of the real charms of my current system is that when members sign up to an event, the list of people signed up is visible to the rest of the group on the calendar. That way they can see how the event is shaping up and who else is going. Is there any way in which this can be done with Wild Apricot?

Conversely, what I need is for the full event detail to be visible to members, but just the heading available for the public - clicking on the detail then leads then to the joining up screen.

    Many thanks

    Jacky

Re: Event registrations visible to all please? + Event detail visible only to members

These posts are a little dated, and this must have been addressed?  What I found when I sign in to our site as a member I can see the list of registrants, but only if I start the process of registering for an event.  Before the registration is completed the list of registrants is displayed, at which time I can choose to cancel my registration.

As an administrator I have put the registrant list right in the event description as people register.  That being said we only have up to around 25 registrants per event, usually less, for an event, so this is manageable.  I would not / could not do this on an ongoing basis for huge events!

This still has not been addressed.

The list you currently see is a list of other people you registered as administrator, not a full list - and is only shown to you because you have admin rights (even though you are currently signed in as member). This will be hidden in v3.0

So we still need to address this.

Would like attendees to be able to see who is attending event

Our events are very social and it would be nice if attendees could see who else is attending.

A 2nd benefit is that we have attendees assisting us with preparations (purchasing drinks for example) and they can see how many people are attending without requiring an administrator do the work.  It would save administrators a huge amount of time coordinating volunteers.

Re: Would like attendees to be able to see who is attending event

PS: Maybe attendees can even email blast other attendees -- with questions like is anyone bringing the "blah".  This should probably be an event level setting.

We also would not want this, but perhaps it can be some kind of optional function which can be turned on and off based on need.

I don't think this is good item to pursue.  If you move in this direction, I'd like you to make a system feature to not allow this feature in addition to an individual opt in/out option.  We would definitely turn this off completely.

Re: Would like attendees to be able to see who is attending event

And this is indeed the biggest reason we have not implemented this yet - it requires quite a bit of overhead to manage privacy. Especially for non-member attendees - since they currently have no way to login and change any preferences.

Re: Would like attendees to be able to see who is attending event

It sounds like you might consider something in the future, if you can manage the privacy issues.

In the meantime, could you make a count of number of attendees be visible?  This will help both organizers who only really need to know number attending to purchase supplies, and potential attendees who can see that we are starting to approach the registration limit.

I know that I rarely register for an event early because I don't want to have to cancel if something comes up.  But if I know a deadline or registration limit is approaching, I'll make a decision.

If you limit event capacity, system already displays now 'Spaces left XX'
