    Re: French customizations

We still plan to do this but there is no specific timeline as of now - we have too many other things in the work queue which are more frequently requested.

We do have people who manage decent bilingual sites using WA, though it is a bit of a hassle to maintain - requires manual work.

    Language (French & English)

I have been evaluating Wild Apricot for our needs.

This software is exactly what I have been looking for to manage registrations for events and to manage our members list.

The only thing holding me back is the unavailability of the language (french & english).

I hope that you will be considering implementing the language packs into your system soon rather than later.

    Translations!

    Hello,

I am considering using WA for at least one association I'm working with and one of the issue I am having is language -- part of the people the association addresses cannot read English...

I would therefore have a way in WA to localize & translate the functional pages as well as the different system error messages (e.g. "We are not currently accepting online donations.")

Administration interface is less of a problem (even if it would also be nice) and could be definitely be done in a second part.

May I suggest to also use "crowdsourcing" and tools such as 99translations (http://99translations.com/) to get some help for the WA community in building the translations? I would clearly help for the French version...

    Best regards,
    -- Olivier

    Re: Translations!

    Oliver,

Thanks for the suggestions - makes total sense.

This is something we plan to do, but before we proceed with the actual translation work, we have to do a lot of development work on our end. Since we have a big pipeline of enhancements requsted by many clients, we are not able to invest this development time for now. I suspect that the earliest we can look at this again will be in 2010.

    Re: Translations!

    Hi Dmitry,

Thanks for the answer, this sounds perfectly logical from your standpoint... even if it's not what I would have liked to read, as it means I cannot use your system for the organization I'm working.

Too bad, I really liked the admin interface, the ease to build the web site and the idea of managing members in a single system. I suppose I'll revisit Wild Apricot next year then...

    Best regards,

    Re: French customizations

We have decided not to pursue WA translations until 2011 - too much stuff we have to do first to make the system better for English speaking users first so we have to focus our resources on that.

We have decided not to proceed with this in 2010 - need to address many other areas in the product first.

    Go to: http://www.alpha1canada.ca/

Click on French tab top right hand side.

We can do this for you in Russian if you'd like.

Re: Wild Apricot in other languages

I know this multilingual capability has been on the wish list for some time now.

I just want to point out that we're looking forward to the day it's implemented by wildapricot... we'll be much more happier... er, on serai très contents pour ça.

    Merci, gracias, thanks,

I just added images to the country of the language at the bottom of our site using http://translate.google.com/ and linked them respectively

Good idea - I checked it out and it seems to work fairly well.
