    Re: Adding Share this

Each blog page has a description field on top. I think this would be the best place. Other option is to add "Share" code to every single blog post.

    Re: Adding Share this

We already tried adding it to individual posts and it doesn't work, the code breaks and if you add it to the description it would only allow you to share the page the blog is on, not each post which is what we need.  There isn't a way to add this code so that we can offer sharing capabilities at the bottom of every blog post automatically?  We really need this option, so I hope so.

    Re: Adding Share this

Unfortunately, we do not have this option, I would suggest to look through the wishlist just to see if it is already there and if not then just add it. In my turn, I will also make a note for this.

On the other hand it is probably possible to create some custom javascript tweak. You can contact our partners to see if they can help you with this, see Nicasio Design: http://www.wildapricot.com/partners/

    Re: Adding Share this

If you mainly want to share posts, I can recommend another services to use in place of Share This. If you add a dynamic footer bar to your site, your visitors will be able to share your post with a number services such as Twitter, Digg, Facebook, etc. Plus there are a number of other useful tools in the bar.

An example of the kind of bar I'm talking about can be found at the bottom of this site:  http://poeticapricot.wildapricot.org/ - as you can see, when you visits a blog post,  you can click on the Share button in the footer bar to share it in multiple ways. The bar can also be easily customized and changed without coding knowledge.

The one on that site can be acquired for free from http://www.wibiya.com/

There are many other companies with similar bars, such as http://bar.meebo.com/

    Re: Adding Share this

I simply added - http://www.addthis.com/ to the top of our header (http://secondgearclub.camp9.org) and it appears on every page no matter what.

    Re: Adding Share this

    Hi Matthieu.

Can you share the name of the app on wibiya.com that is used on poeticapricot.wildapricot.org?  I tried sharing one of your blog posts but the generated link just redirects to your main blog page which lists all posts versus taking me to the specific blog post I was sharing.  I'm wondering whether this is the same behavior for event pages too?  Your site didn't have an Events page so I wasn't able to test it.

Thank you for your awesome tips!  Thanks.

    Re: Adding Share this

    Hi,

Thanks for pointing out that the link wasn't working. I checked with Wibya and they have a newer version of their share tool - I updated my bar and the links share correctly.

These are the apps that are currently in the bar at poeticapricot.wildapricot.org:

    • Search
    • iTransaltions
    • Latest posts
    • Facebook Like button
    • Subscribe
    • Smart Share
    • Facebook Fan Page
    • Twitter

    Re: Adding Share this

I move this thread to general questions forum as there are a number of third party tools to simplify sharing of pages with friends.

Also, would be glad to here more on that.

The Albert R. Renteria Corporation (The ARRC™) currently utilizes this feature ourselves and recommend it to all of our clients.  Once implemented it will automatically generate a Facebook powered "Share This" link on every blog post that will be unique to each individual blog post.  Check it out in action over at our non-profit organization, the Southwest Veterans' Business Resource Center (SWVBRC) or on our own blog.

If you would like to take advantage of this feature please contact us directly through our Wild Apricot powered site at http://www.arrenteria.com

Re: Adding Share this code to blog posts

Hi, where do I add the Wibiya code?  In Global Javascript?  I tried that and it didn't work.  Maybe that's because I already have Google Analytics tracking code in that box?

I also tried to add it as a gadget and as HTML/Javascript directly on my site.  No luck.  Any advice would be appreciated.  Thanks!
