Show day as part of start/end date [10122]

We have had a lot of comments from users of our site (we run a social club with 3-5 events per week) that it is hard to know what day events are on by date alone and it would be much more helpful if the date include the actual day.

So we're talking something like this:

    • Start
      Saturday, April 30, 2011
    •
      06:00 PM - 08:30 PM

Is there a tweak of some sort available that will allow us to diplay the event date in this format or similar?  If not, can we add this to the wishlist - I would havethought this would be a pretty common request.  Or is there some setting that I simply haven't enabled?

     Thanks

Re: Show day as part of start/end date

Where do you want to display the day exactly? Is it on some specific screen/email?

For now, you can setup your Event page as a calendar so it will show all events by day.

    See: http://help.wildapricot.com/display/DOC/Publishing+your+event+calendar#Publishingyoureventcalendar-Eventcalendarsettings

In addition, users can add the events to their own desctop calendars, see: http://help.wildapricot.com/display/DOC/Adding+an+event+into+desktop+calendar+software

We do not have a Day option at the moment but I will move this to our Wishlist forums to see if there is any similar interest from other users.

Re: Show day as part of start/end date

When we run events, we like to print out the events from the events list page for people to look at. The date is listed, but not the day - people can't always work out what day something is just by looking at the date. Printing the calendar to give people

You can see our site here: www.mysocialcircle.com.au - its an events based social club rather than a club that runs the occasional event so we have heavy dependence on the calendar. Unfortunately the calendar view doesn't make the events look all that enticing and we would prefer to use the events list as the default.

Previous post moved about a bit so it is formatted strangely.  So what we would like to see is the actual day as part of the start date on the events list page.

eg Start: Saturday, April 21, 2011 rather than Start: April 21, 2011

Hope that makes better sense - ideally we would love to be able to see the price on this same page rather than having to click through to the next page as well - we have had quite a few people abandon registrations when they register directly from the standard events list and get greeted with a payment request for something they thought was free!

    Cheers

This is a good point - to show day in addition to just date.
I'll add it to our analysis queue so we can address this in future (cannot predict now when it's going to be)

Re: Show day as part of start/end date

I completely forgot - in the very next release 4.2 (very soon - mid May 2011) there will be a way to define Date/Time format - and one of the formats to be with day of week. So you'll be able to just select this format and all your dates to be this ways.

You can find preview of this in our blog post at    http://www.wildapricot.com/blogs/newsblog/archive/2011/02/22/wild-apricot-software-news-february-2011.aspx
