    Member's view their donation history [7369]

    I'd like to make a recommendation that when member's log in to their account they can view their donation history.

    This makes sense - and I think a related matter is for members to view their event registrations

    Couldn't agree more.

    To really engage our members we need to have them use our website as an interactive portal where they can fully manage their client experience with us. This includes managing their event registrations and donations.

    I'd love the ability to have them view their donations/event registrations AND the ability to retry pending/failed payments for donations and event registrations (just like for pending membership applications).

    Self-service to to view invoices, donations and pay for open invoices online [9228]

    Several times, a member has forgotten to bring payment for an event on the day of the event. When they go into the software the next day, it does not accept payments after the date. It would be helpful to allow that functionality.

    It would be nice, and consistant, if ALL invoices, whether generated automatically or manually, could be paid electronically.

    When a user is logged in they can see their outstanding balance, but not what its for and it dosent give them the ability to pay the balance.

     

    Id like a new page where they can see my invoices, with balances, and pay button on both this page and member profime page

    Yes! A member should be able to settle their balance electronically when they log in, not be told to send a check.

    I vote for this capability also --- want to add that when they view invoices, they should also be able to view and outstanding unsettled payments or credits that could be applied to the invoice for payment, and let them do that too.

    We have started thorough analysis of this request - members can see their invoices and pay for them - and solution options. Here is a highlight of current solution idea:  

    • Members will be able to see invoice and payments (including donations) in their profile. This will be show like a list of mixed invoices and payments with a total balance
    • Current member balance will be clearly shown near his name when he is logged and he will be able to quickly pay the balance. System will also open member profile after member login if there is a debt (so he can pay)  
    • Members will be able to pay for any invoice or all current balance electronically (if this payment options is allowed by organization)
    • All invoices that administrator adds manually will also be shown in profile and also can be paid electronically 
    • Event registration, Membership application, renewal, level change workflow will generate invoice instead of requiring instant payment. Invoice goes to profile and can be paid right away or later   
    • Any failed payment can be retied now - from the same member profile 
    • We will also allow to login non-member contacts into the system and they will also see invoice and payments with ability to pay. Such contacts will not have any member access for sure, only access to its own profile. 

       I will be glad to here any comments.

      Sounds great -- just what we need!   I'm assuming that when you say members can view payments, that will include any "available balances" (credits) so that they can then apply those directly to pay an invoice, then be able to pay any remaining  balance on line.

       

      that would be a big help!

      @skipat - here's current thinking:

      - view all invoices (Paid/unpaid)

      - for unpaid invoices ability to pay current invoice balance online (accounting for already applied payments/credits if any)

      - pay total balance (all open balances on all invoices minus all open payments/credits)

      So I think it will address what you have described, with the only exception of this situation:

      - there is a credit not applied to any invoice

      - and multiple open invoices

      - and person would only want to pay one specific invoice and apply credit to it

      this would NOT be covered - we do not plan to have a way for end-users to apply credits to specific invoices, only admins would be able to do this. But if there is only one outstanding invoice, user simply needs to pay his current balance - which would automatically apply credits.

      I have one big issue with this solution right now:  

      We have several major events that are paid in 3 installment payments over a 6 month period.  We do not allow credit card payments for these events, since the credit card fees would force us to raise the price of the event for all by as much as $50.   

      Unless you allow for specific installment payment dates for events OR you allow certain event payments to be limited to manual payment only so that they not be allowed to be paid off by credit card with a member's outstanding balance, this will be a big problem for us.  

      We have relied on instructing on users not to pay for these events by credit card, which works fairly well.  However, we do want a member with a large outstanding balance  for an installment-payment event to still be able to go in and pay by credit card for a new event.  We have many member who sign up for a major event, but also participate in numerous smaller events during the time the payments are outstanding for the major event.

      So I guess we need installment payment dates for our major events for this to work.

      The only other alternative I can think of is for us to work around this problem would be to create a dummy duplicate member account for the major events so that when members login they can't access that account balance.  Then we can merge the records (with the coming enhancement) after the installment payment period ends.  This sounds pretty cumbersome. 

       Any other ideas?

      You are right, I do not think that Phase 1 of this functionality - when we launch it - will be of much use to you. Installment payments is something we will have to look at it in subsequent enhancements - subject to seeing sufficient level of interest in it by Wild Apricot users.

      I think that this would be very useful for my organization as well.  Here is a situation that I have recently encountered that would be solved by this new functionality.

       

      We scheduled an event that was open to both members and non-members.  Non-members had to pay a fee to attend.  There was also registration on-site at the event.

       

      One person attended the event who was not a member.  They registered on site and asked us to invoice them for the amount of payment.

      I manually added this person as an attendee for the event, and generated an invoice for them.  At that point, the only option was to send them the invoice and have them send in a check.  There is no way for them to log in and pay with a credit card, though they would have preferred doing so.  The only people who are able to log in, are Members, as they are provided with a password when their membership is initiated.

      Having a way for non-member attendees to be able to pay for an event online, after the event has taken place, is a great feature.  We have found that the more people are able to pay online, the lower the barrier to entry for them to go to an event or become a member.  This is more important when the people are part of an organization that is paying for them, and thus has an accounting department that makes it a hassle to cut a check.  It is easier to use the corporate credit card to pay for someone online, and then it is already documented.

      Thanks for the details - this is indeed one of the scenarios we have considered in the design of this feature. We have now completed the draft of the design and passed it on to developers for in-depth technical analysis and work estimate. We hope to include this in release 4.3

      Does this feature exist now? 

       

      We are in our first year of using Wild Apricot to have our club members pay for summer programs online.  About 85% paid online, with the remaining 15% either intending to send in checks or having trouble paying online -- I'd like those 15% to choose to pay online, and would like to make it easy for them.

       

      In the absence of having this feature, I am planning to have them use a donation form to pay their open balance.  Is there any problem with that (other than that it is ugly compared with the proposed solution in this thread)?  We don't actually solicit or receive any "donations".

      It does not exist yet - that's why it's still here on the wishlist forum. It is planned for version 4.3 (fall 2011)

      Donation form workaround should work - though accounting will be messed up since invoices will not be matched to payments automatically and you will have to record payments manually etc.

      This aspect of the thread seems to have gotten a bit lost in the merging of the threads with the invoice issue.

      We would simply like our members to be able to view the events they have signed up for (past and future), as well as donations they have made. The ability to retry failed registrations would be great, too... but the first part is all we need for now.

      Donations made will be visible in member profile, new tab "Invoices and payments". As for events, they would be able to see them as invoices in the same tab but there will be no specific page to show all events registrations.  This is in our radar but not for now.
