I have had the "contact us" workaround working well for a couple of years using a hidden member as described. But now I tried to change the recipient of the email from from the hidden member - to a visible member & administrator of our site. (note: this member/administrator happens to be "lapsed" right at this minute, but not sure if this has an affect on my problem). I followed the following steps:
1) changing the member serial number in the "contact us" hyperlink (from the hidden member to member/administrator)
2) Under privacy, checking the member/administrator profile page accepts contact from "anybody"
3) checking the member/administrator profile is accepting all emails.
But I get strange results. When I click the "contact Us" link as a...
A) visitor: "authorisation required" prompted to log-in. Why?
B) member: "Access Denied, Sorry, it looks like you do not have access to the requested functionality
(You might also see this message if you have been automatically logged out due to inactivity for security reasons. Log out and log in again"
C) administrator: The form becomes visible, but the page never finishes loading and the site hangs. No message can be sent.
What am I doing wrong?
thanks
