Notify administrators when members edit their records [1216]

    Current behavior:

Any member can login and update his profile, there are no notifications to the administrators.

    Desired behavior:

Email notifications about member record changes by members.

This one's got my vote! I can even tell you how important to us!

Since we also offer insurance w/our membership any changes have to be reported.

Right now, Its old school ...they have to contact us.

IF they can change it themself, and then we get notice..WOW....how that would save us time.

We currently have 3 sites so you can imagine how much time saved by this!

Vote if you need it or even like the idea! Please

What's the ideal frequency? (right away/daily/weekly)

Do you need to see old AND new values for all changes (vs. just a list of new values)?

Ideal frequency would be daily for us or right away.

Seeing just the new values would be fine.

    Anything would be fine :-)

This would be great. I think that the administrator needs to be able to select the frequency Immediate/Daily/Weekly. We'd probably want daily, although in some instances immediate.

This should also be accompanied by a system Date field "Last Updated"

This would enable us to filter and just download recent updates rather than the whole database to compate it to our local database. Would save loads of time.

    Thanks.

Re: Notify administrators when members edit their records

This would help us out a lot.  Having only new values would be okay, but if it were possible seeing both old and new would be better.  But don't delay having it in the system to get old values as well!!!

We would prefer to see this on a daily basis.  We don't need to see any intermediate values in a field - like a member trying multiple times to get a phone number typed in right.  Just an indicator that there is a new value in the field at the end of the "day" compared to what there had been at the beginning of the 24 hour cycle (does not need to be exact), and what that value is.

If the only way it could be reasonably implemented would be to extend the processing at the time of the update event to trigger a message to admin, that would be okay too as better-than-nothing.

One tough problem in implementation would be whether to make the change notification machine-readable, like in XML, or human readable, in text, like you refer to in your message, or somehow both.  We would prefer to get both, but the xml version would be preferred if there is only one kind of report available. For most WA users however we would understand if they wanted text email notification.  In your implementation you might internally generate it in XML and then output that to a generated text message.  What we are saying is that we would like to get the xml as an attachment to the mail.

     Thanks.

This one has my vote as very important.  Daily reports are great as I can keep track easier but I'd be happy if this was even a search feature.

    Thanks

Yes, we would appreciate this, too.  We are just migrating from another members system:  There is a lot of data, and knowing which members have updated would give us a much better view of how many are acutally digging into the site.

You can see which of your members has logged into the new system by using advanced search.  Either do a search using member status to get everybody, or do a search looking for some sub-group.  The results show last log in date for each person on the list.

I would really like to see both old and new values.  Otherwise, the old data is lost forever.

I work with a adolescent swim team and it is always a hassle keeping emergency contact forms up to date. Something like this would help.

Option to prevent members from updating email address directly

Or, provide a notice to administrator if a member updates their email address.  We use our membership list also for a separate email discussion list, and we need an option to provide more control on the email used for both of our needs.

Agree!  Please, please do this!  We currently tie together five websites and having notification of changes would be a life saver.  Getting notifications as they happen would be ideal.

It doesn't matter.........knowing when members information is changed is crucial.

Re: Notify administrators when members edit their records [1216]

I am very new to Wild Apricot but am already helping two clients to implement it.  I haven't read all of the postings to this thread but want to add my request for a way to track profile changes.

Receiving emails is not the ideal solution for me.  I would like to be able to search the member list for a criteria of Profiles Changed in a Date Range and export just those records.

Having all of the changes for a period of time listed in one place would greatly simplify the administrative effort of maintaining consistency across multiple databases.

This sounds like a good idea. However, how will you track what fields have been changed?
