    Customizing 'Authorization required' message [4916]

    Hi there,

I have a question regarding the following message:

    "Authorization required
Authorization is required to access the page you’re looking for.
Please login and you’ll be taken to the page you requested.

    E-mail *

    Password *

    Remember me
    Forgot password

I would like to customize this message with different wording...telling the user he needs to register as a member before he can log in.

This message appears in my site as follows:

Go to "Inicio" page as a non member user
Click on the green vignete "Desarrollo de lenguage academico".

I want people to register as a member before they acces the info there...and I like the message to come up, but I need to add language to it...like "Membership is required" ( Hagase miembro para acceder a este servicio).

Please advise. I'm just afraid it will confuse people.
    Thanks in advance,
    Elisa

    Elisa,

Sorry we do not currently have a way to customize this text.

    Re: Authorization required message

I would also like to edit this message. If the user is not a member, they do not currently get any info on joining, it just asks them to login which will not be possible for them.

At a minimum, this message should offer an opportunity to join for non-members. It would also be nice to be able to have a custom message.

    Edit Login Required Page

I would like to be able to edit the login required page on our site so that we can add a link to sign up for membership if you do not have one.  Some of our customers have stated that when they see this page, the phrase "authorization required" makes them thing they did something wrong.

    Thanks!!

    Re: Edit Login Required Page

This is standard across most membership or social sites. It should be very easy for anyone who ends up there what they have to do, now there isn't anything even letting them know really whats wrong. They may think they've ended up in an administration area. Add my vote.

    Re: Edit Login Required Page

Our developers are currently working on a feature that will let you edit the message from "Authorization required".

We plan to release this in version 3.2, which should be launched around the end of September, 2009.

Re: Customizing 'Authorization required' message [4916]

    Elisa,

I don't want the general public to see member information without first registering either. I made an Our Members page that says

Please register with us at Join Us or sign in at the bottom of this page.

To search our Member Directory, click on the Search section of the menu which you will see after signing in.

I put the Search page in the members only section. It's the only way I could figure out how to accomplish what I wanted. There may be an easier way... like custom wording where you suggested.

Thank you for your suggestions and input while we developed this feature.
