Making any page a homepage [2519]

    Current behavior:

Homepage is created automatically - as a regular content page. It can not be deleted or moved.

    Desired behavior:

Ability to make any page into homepage, for example event calendar or membership directory

You mean save it as "Favorites"?

No, you should see a row of stars at the top and you click to rate it 1 to 5 (similar to Amazon ratings etc.)

I would definitely like to have this option for flexibility.  Many of my clients have asked for the blog or calendar to be the home page.

Re: Making any page a homepage [2519]

How would this work in the current design where it doesn't even go to the actual home page if you have one or more restricted/member's only sections set up?  Heck, I would simply like the Home page to be the actual home page.  As it is now when members log in they get redirected to whatever member's only restricted page I have set up and they never see the home page.  ????????   So I guess I will vote for this if it is a way (although very convoluted by 2009 web standards) to be able to get members to see the Home page first when they log in.  Ah, standards.

This thread is really for functionality for public visitors.

    Your point is about members.

Sorry about that.  Your original post said "Ability to make any page into homepage, for example event calendar or membership directory".  I thought a membership directory was a non-public page.

No problem, did not mean to blame you or anything :-)

Membership directory can be public or private. In this context I menat public one :-)

Sorry, no, it is being postponed so that we can focus on other enhancements.

We are going to move this to the wishlist until we have set a version release for it.

Re: Making any page a homepage [2519]

I find it quite dated to have a page as a homepage that cannot support child pages.  I find this to be a more basic feature than being able to make any page a homepage.

It is only logical to have the "About" page to be a child of the homepage.

Re: Making any page a homepage [2519]

The ability to put sub pages to the home page is the most important thing.  I think being able to make one of the functional pages as the home page is secondary.

I would like to focas more attention on the discussion board somehow. Most of my users don't use it for one reason or another. Many users tell me they did not even know that I had one.  I wish I could force them over to that location somehow. I was thinking of making it as PART of the home page if i could.

@Richard Gaspa - by "discussion board" you mean forums? You can add forum gadget into home page content - it will show several recent topics from specific forum or even all forums.
