Generating event badges, mailing labels, membership certificates etc. in WA [6344,6345]

    Current behavior:
Membership certificates/cards can be produced by running a search, exporting records and using something like MS Word mail merge

    Desired behavior:
Ability to directly setup in the system layout and fields for membership certificates/cards and then to print them using common label formats.

    Notes:

Details about specific desired formats/layouts/label sizes would be appreciated.

    online membership certificate and cards

Ideally we are looking for something so members can print their membership certificate and/or card right online, either in their account center or somewhere in the members only section.

Please second this if this is something you want to get it on the WA update list :-) Thank you.

Currently we have to do all this by hand, printing it and mailing it to members. Our members are looking at having it instantly after they login in.

This is not that strange for associations I see.

Re: online membership certificate and cards

Kim, we have added this to our list. The biggest challenge is to figure out how to address widely varied formatting requirements for these cards/certificates. If you could send us a sample of your current layouts, we would appreciate it.

(And everyone else interested in this feature - please send your sample layout and thoughts to support @ Wildapricot.com)

Re: online membership certificate and cards

How about just supporting an html template certificate and card?  Have an editor and the option for administrators to insert their own html.  Support a number of basic fields (First Name, Last Name, Membership Level, Expiration Date).  The user would click the certificate or card link and the template would be merged with their information.

I just wanted to say this is something we would like, too! I think designing our own with an HTML format would work fine.

    When might this be available?

    Thanks Susan.

We are dealing with hundreds of very varied requests so I can not commit to a timeline but this does look like something we will be adding to the system at some point.

Re: online membership certificate and cards

To make this really useful to us, would need to be able to tell it to check a specific database field, to find out if the member was "juried" or not.  If no - just print a generic membership card for the membership level.  If yes, print a special membership card as a juried member with the juried logo.

Re: online membership certificate and cards

Ok, basically you would need a couple of different templates instead of one. I made a note of this.

    Preparing event participant badges

    Current behavior:
To print event participant badges, attendee list has to be exported into Excel and something like Microsoft Word mail merge used. This provides a lot of flexibility but obviously is less convenient than a built-in badge generator

    Desired behavior:
Built-in functionality to define badge layouts and to print out badges in common label sizes right from the system

    Notes:
We would appreciate feedback about desired label formats (sizes) and customization needs for badge layouts/design

    Re: Membership certificates / cards

Just voting on this one as well. Another priority on our list.

If our members could access everything online such as a membership certificate/card this would cut time, mailing and be a great benefit for members.

Currently many association's like our's allready have this in place. I feel like we are back in the stone age, printing and mailing and taking days.

We want to main stream our association and make it user friendly.

This is a great way to start.

Please vote for this. It will increase your membership signups!

    Re: Preparing event participant badges

This feature would be of great use to us as our main two reasons for joining WA are to better manage our conferences.

Our badges typically standard size and include

    Name

    Organization

    City, State

(Some tags also have information that would require field to designate the role of the attendee, EG  The tag might say  "Presenter" or "Board Member")

    Re: Preparing event participant badges

This would be a great feature for our Association.  For my Member ID Card and my Event badges I use blank printable business cards.  These can be inserted into a name badge pouch or laminated (For ID Cards).  I recycle the badge pouches and use them for different events.

Cards I use Size is Avery 8376 / 8271, white, micro-perforated (You can buy office depot brand very cheap!

This is a must!  See my reply to name badges.

I like the idea of members being able to print out there own card

    Re: Preparing event participant badges

A nice-to-have feature, but not a high priority for us since we can do this pretty easily using MS Word.  But an improved data export functionality (export-to-MSWord-for-MailMerge) would make it a little easier.

    Re: Preparing event participant badges

Can you elaborate what is missing in the current version?

MS Word Mail merge can use Excel files so existiing export file should be easily usable for mail-merge.

    Re: Preparing event participant badges

We would use this feature if it were available.  Tell us which avery labels to get and we would go buy them.  Preferably, they would be labels that just stick to you and not actual badges.  But we'd use whatever is available.

    Re: Membership certificates / cards

I second this effort for a priority release and basic approach would be as noted below. All text noted would be system generated based on what we as admin would provide.

    CivPol Alumni Association, Incorporated

    LOGO                          NO: 7658079

                                       Date: 9/12/2008

                       Albert R. Renteria

                       ACTIVE MEMBER

                       Fallbrook, California

All the text exists and instructions would be provided to the member on how to print their ID card and note the cost savings for the organization by making this function available to members. The members must always appreciate cost savings that we can provide.

The color scheme can be optional for us, but the logo is what will be the representation for the look and feel.

    Re: Membership certificates / cards

A possible expiry date would be a useful option.

    Re: Preparing event participant badges

We would need to have ours printed with name and organization, with perhaps the option to include some sort of little icon down at the bottom (say, a star) for those who paid for the optional banquet.

Our badges tend to be the sort that are stuck in the little plastic sheaths and strung over the neck.  Any standard size for which sheaths are available is fine.

This would save us a lot of effort.  We're all volunteer-driven, and not everyone knows how to do the mail merge.

    Re: Preparing event participant badges

We are seriously looking at WA for our brand new club - will definitely need to print membership cards and name badges for meetings - I am surprised it took me awhile to find any questions or reference to this capability.  Any update on when it would be possible?

    Re: Preparing event participant badges

This has not been scheduled yet.

I hope that existing workaround (export into Excel, use Microsoft Word mail merge function) will be workable for you.
